RollPlayRadio

Greetings Traveler!

Welcome to RollPlayRadio. My name is Clinton.

I've been building this on my own, on and off, for the past three years, with no studio behind me and no big funding to speak of. I'd rather put that up front.

I spun up the project repo in late 2022 without digging too deep into the name or the brand. It just rolled out of my brain, off my tongue, and stuck.

Why I made it

I came to tabletop gaming the long way around. Not from the player's seat, but from the outside looking in. Hundreds of hours watching others play online, and friends who live and breathe it. Somewhere in there I fell for the feeling of it: the held breath in a quiet room before something goes wrong, the swell of sound when a moment finally lands.

I also kept hearing the same quiet frustration, on forums and from those same friends. People would reach for music or ambience to set a scene, then end up wrestling clunky playlists and a wall of browser tabs mid-session. It seemed like an easy thing to solve. As a hobby developer with a creative streak and a full-time job in IT, surely I could do this? So I stopped nodding along to the complaints and started building. A soundboard that's fast, layered, and made for live play.

What it's for

RollPlayRadio hands the atmosphere to your table without the busywork. It's for any table master or group who wants their sessions to feel more immersive. Layer your soundscape, save the mix as a scene, then stack scenes across a session so you can summon the right mood in seconds: a rain-soaked forest, a roaring tavern, or the moment the enemy finally reveals itself.

It's not just for the table, either. You can just as easily kick back to a personalised soundscape while you work, clean, or drift off to sleep.

How it's made

RollPlayRadio is built by me, using sound effects and music I've paid to properly license, alongside my own compositions, to bring together a library that suits any TTRPG experience.
